The AstroBooty EP

When we started making this album, we didn’t know what genre it would be categorized under. There isn’t a “Dubstep Rap Shit” genre on iTunes, so we decided to tell the world what it is instead.

The Astrobooty EP is an introduction to the Rapstep genre. It blends hip-hop beats with EDM elements (Dub, Trap, Trance) and a verse-drop format that changes up the overused song structure in rap.

These 5 songs exemplify everything the Filthy Mammals stand for. From the first line in “Everyone”, you get the idea. After the final note in “Swag Like Jesus”, you’ll have a clear picture of what you can expect from us every time. Only it’ll be better.

“My next song’s my best song”.

We’re the Filthy (Fucking) Mammals

“What are you writing?”

That was one of the first things Charles Hurst (Mr. Business) asked Rafael Gomez (Rapper) when they met in Florida their senior year in 2001. It just happened to be lyrics to a rap song, and Mr. Business just happened to have a mastery of rhythm acquired through years of snare drumming on a superior drumline. The two began making rap songs together at the age of 17. And unfortunately, it sounded like it.

College, women, and the general transition to adulthood slowed down any progress to making good music. The two lost touch over the years and moved to different parts of the world.

But in 2013, they discovered that they both happened to be living in Austin, Texas.

Without missing a beat, the duo went back to their old ways and decided to make rap music again. But rap music had been overdone. It needed to be more.

Mr. Business was studying the patterns of dubstep and trap music and found familiarity in their complex rhythms. Rafael was a professional writer and spent years studying his idols to master clever compound rhyming. Dubstep’s proximity to hip-hop is undeniable, and it was time to combine the two sounds in a unique way.

The Filthy Mammals are a Dubstep-Rap (Rapstep) duo from Austin, Texas. With hard drums and basslines, sick and witty rap, their sound is guaranteed to entertain and make you feel something between curiosity and goosebumps.
